Imagine my surprise to open a package from my Mum to find some lovely new-to-me patterns!

Style 1984

Now I am not a fan of drop waists but I think with a few tweaks this pattern could look good.  I like the neckline on the middle one and the sash and also the buttons up the back of the dress.

Style 1992

This is a very '80's dress, I do like the bust line and the little tie front and the buttons down the front which you can leave open or closed depending on how daring you feel.

New Look 2003

This is quite an up-to-date pattern but I am just not sure about the drawstring waist and the big pockets on the trousers.  It could look cute on the shorts in navy or red, lend them a sailory edge.

Pattern Tracing Set

Last but by no means least, a pattern tracing kit!  My Mum found this in Lidl in one of their weekly bargain sections and I have never seen a set like this before.  It has tailors chalk, a pin cushion and several sheets of tracing paper and has been designed for use with 'pattern magazines.'  This is so perfect for me!  I love buying Burda and this will work well with it.  Anyone else pick one of these up?  I don't know how much it cost but judging by the fact it was from Lidl I doubt it was very much.

I did a bad thing, more patterns!

I may have accidentally acquired some new-to-me patterns!  I can't help it, it's like a disease!  Heehee!  The first two I found on ebay and really liked them but they were ending while I was at work so I just slapped a minimum bid on them, not really expecting to win either and I got both!

Simplicity 5924 - 1965

I love this pattern!  It is so sweet!  It is basically a shift dress with different collar alterations but I can see myself wearing every single one!  The cover is ripped but the pattern is fine and it was bought from a retiring seamstress which makes me happy that it was once loved as much as I love it.  Plus I don't think I have any 1960's patterns (until now!)

Style 3923 - 1972

I didn't think I would win this one either but I am glad I did.  It's not my usual style but what drew me to it was the curved waistline on the front and the plunging v at the back.  I don't really wear full length dresses but I think this could look great for a wedding or party and would also work in a shortened length.

McCall's 7573 - 1981

This is a pattern I won in a recent giveaway on Bessie Art 's blog.  Hooray fro free patterns!  I like the short view though I am not sure I have enough confidence for a playsuit, I would really like to knock one up for someone, perhaps my sister.

My 1980's Vintage Patterns

On to my 1980's pattern post!  I won't post any of the modern patterns that I have that you can still buy in the shops and online as I don't really feel then need but it is nice to share these.

Style 3223

From my grans stash, I really like the pussy bow middle dress and I reckon this one could look pretty fashionable once it is made up.  I love how trends come around again.

Simplicity 9497

This was my Mum's pattern, it looks as though she has made it in the past but I know she doesn't have the dress now if she did.  This is a bit shapeless for me so I'm not sure this one will get made up.

Style 2949

The second view has really interesting sleeves and neckline which I think could look pretty good made up.

This is my total guilty pleasure pattern,  I bought it purely because of the subject matter, it actually looks pretty rubbish in the made up picture on the back but I am convinced I could make a good go of it.  Not that I have yet but we will see.  

1985

Butterick 3214

TA DA!!  What is not to love?  If you don't know already I have a My Little Pony addiction and basically I have to have anything the is original eighties MLP.  I don't want any modern rubbish mind, I like the old ones.  There is another 3 patterns I believe out there, and I desperately want them.  I will track them down and buy them!!!  (Scary rant over.)

Next post I am hoping to have a before and after of my sewing room, though I am feeling quite ashamed at showing the before!
